Animationsfilmen 'Isle of Dogs' foregår i en nær fremtid, hvor hunde er blevet så stor en belastning, at Japans præsident sender hele racen afsted for at bo på en øde skraldeø. Det passer dog ikke en modig 12-årig dreng, der savner sin firbenede ven og drager afsted til øen for at finde ham.

Set in future Japan, this is not an ordinary pet story but a modern tale of courage and brotherhood. Meet Chief (Bryan Cranston from “Breaking Bad”), Rex (Edward Norton), Boss (Bill Murray), Duke (Jeff Goldblum), King (Bob Balaban) and Koyu Rankin as Atari Kobayashi, the brave boy who is not ready to abandon his canine friend. Chased by the Japanese authorities, the unusual group of friends must be peerlessly ingenious in order not to only to survive but to fulfill their mission.
